Low Sodium Blackening Seasoning (I use this as Old Bay Seasoning!)

After trying to learn many different ways of cooking on a low-sodium diet, and at first not being quite-so-adventurous with food options, I am finding that there are very few excuses to not take careful considerations in what I feed myself and my family! I like things to be easy...who doesn't? Easy used to be Hamburger Helper with fatty ground beef or running through the drive thru at McDonald's...I'm now streamlining my idea of 'easy', and in doing so, am changing the healthiness of the food my family consumes...

Low Sodium Blackening Seasoning

2 T Paprika
2 t Lemon Pepper (I use Mrs. Dash)
1.5 t garlic powder
1.5 t crushed red pepper
1.5 t dried basil
1 t onion powder
1 t dried thyme

I prefer to mix this all up in an old jar or dish, and I usually make double or triple the recipe to have plenty on hand when needed!

I have used this on tilapia, salmon, in jambalaya, on chicken, and I'm sure you could find many other uses for this exact seasoning, as it reminds me a LOT of Old Bay seasoning.

It has just enough 'kick' to it to not need any salting at all!
